Poem: "A Letter to Heaven"

A Letter to Heaven
By: Eve Estelle

You were there for me forever,
You would lend your hand to help;
You were always there whenever,
You'd make the coldest hearts melt.

But your hourglass of time
Has finally run empty;
You suffer no longer,
But you've gone less than gently.
Problems befell you, that few men could take;
Your light shines in Heaven,
But a promise I'll make:
Your life will continue, if only through us,
We'll remember you always,
And miss you as much.

The life that you gave me, I still have to live;
But I can't wait to see you, to be with you again.
You guided and raised me, you loved and you gave me
The best father a child could have. Amen.

When you read this letter, please do remember,
That no matter what happens, love is forever.

Author's note: Dedicated to the best dad in the world, who recently passed after going through many crazy health issues. Miss you, Dad! <3

    1. Thank you, Seema, I appreciate your kind words. :) You're absolutely right when you say that it's a void nothing can fill. I can't imagine what it must've been like at fourteen! Yikes. That's a hard age anyway without losing a parent.

      Thank you again, and I wish you nothing but good luck and happiness. :)

    1. I think anyone who's lost someone close to them would. Only natural, but no less difficult. Thanks for commenting, Avy! :)

  4. Did you write this? It's beautiful!
    I'm really sorry about your dad. I can't imagine what you're going through at the moment but I can understand how you felt when he was still alive, my grandma and my dad are really sick at the moment and it's never going to get better so...

    All the best,
    Martine. X

    1. Martine, I did! :) Thank you so very much. For the time being, at least, it's more surreal than anything else. I have no illusions that he's still here, but at the same time it feels like he never left. It's strange! I'm doing alright, though. I'm sorry to hear about your own family troubles. That is never an easy thing. It's hard to see them go downhill like that.. but it's also a relief when you know that they aren't suffering anymore.

      I wish you and your family all the best as well. Thank you for stopping by! :)

  5. This is a beautiful flow of words and feelings, and I must admit I have tears in the corners of my eyes. I am so sorry for the pain you must feel for the loss of your father, truly I can't say I will ever comprehend the sorrow you have. Love is forever as you say and nobody will ever take that from you, it sounds like you will clutch it dearly in your heart for the rest of your time here.

    1. For sure, I always will, and I'll do my best to spread that same love to others. It's hard on the living, but at least those we lose no longer have to deal with the silly problems of everyday life. Thank you very much for dropping by, and for your wonderful comment. By the way, I visited your new Mastery and Strength blog; love that header image you have! Looking forward to following your blogging journey. :)

  6. I am so sorry...I came here to view your lovely poems. Now I am feeling sad. It must be so difficult even though it's been quite some time.

    1. It is, definitely, but he went through a lot - there's comfort in knowing that he doesn't have to deal with it all anymore. I'm really not that religious, but I was brought up with a mostly Christian perspective, and so it's also nice to think that he gets to see all those people he's missed as well!

      It's sad, but it's life. He's still with me and my family, in everything we say and do.. :)

  7. Yes he's free of pain.
    And you don't need to be religious to have the basic idea of God. :)
    I am happy that you have accepted it. :) Tc...
