Poem: "Windowsill Rain"

Windowsill Rain
By: Eve Estelle

Sitting by the window,

A gentle wind caressing my face -

Lost in memories of the past,

Drifting through thoughts of the future.

The air of autumn comes early,

Bringing with it refreshment.

The trees, they whisper,

And the clouds take on a darker hue -

Thunder rumbles in the distance,

And soon raindrops begin to fall.

  1. Beautiful poem Eve. It's scarily close to one I was workin' on earlier. :)

  3. I love how visual this poem is. I can just see the thick musky rain through the window of your poem.

    1. Aw, thank you for your comment, Audrey. I've never been so good at free verse poetry like this, but I have been wanting to practice more with it lately. This one, for once, I feel actually came out very well!

  4. Agrh! So good! Are you going through these emotions when you write poems, or do you just make one up from the photo. I think I can remember saying you did from the pic. Either way wow.

    1. Depends on the poem. Some, like this one, are actually personal. But most aren't. and most aren't directly from the picture either. Usually what happens is an idea comes to mind, totally random and inspired by anything from a single word in a conversation to another story I read to, sometimes, an image I saw, and I'll try to make something out of it. Then I go searching for the right picture!

      Thank you Tudda :D
