Noises in the Dark
By: Eve Estelle

Lay down your head,
Attempt to sleep;
Hear the sounds of the fearful night,
And try your hardest not to weep.
The creaks and groans of windblown boards,
The silent shadows passing by;
"As you sow, so shall you reap,"
There's nothing that won't catch your eye.

You lie in bed, tossing and turning;
There's something there, there's something there..
You hear it, you feel it, it's always returning..
A gaze unearthly, an aura of despair;
..So why does it look like there's nothing there?
