Poem: "Faraway"

"Ashes of Time" by Iardacil on DeviantArt

Faraway
By: Eve Estelle

I see the walls to your kingdom,
Across the sea, so far away;
The cerulean waters give me no solace,
As I'm reminded only of that fateful day;
Disruptions plague the tranquil surface,
As I recall the reason I couldn't stay;
A ripple for each fallen tear,
I wish you weren't so far away..

I stood outside those wretched gates,
Defiance coursing through every vein;
I watched them bolt the locks behind me,
Wasn't long till I felt the pain -
Separated from you, but I still couldn't doubt,
For two words they called to me,
And those were, "Get out."

  2. Wow...that's melancholy. Amazing, Eve! :-) Where do you get the inspiration for your poetry? What time of day do you usually write? (Pardon the noisy questions...^_^)

    1. The darker stuff is so much fun. ;) Not at all! I love your questions!

      I tend to write mostly at night or in the very early a.m., but it varies. As for inspiration, that could come from anywhere and anything. It could be a simple word that hits me just right, a song that inspires a certain atmosphere - heck, a good number of my writings were even just random ideas that came to me in the middle of the night and stuck. It's really a range of different things. :)
