Shattered

Fragile glass, fragile mind,

Scattered pieces, tough to find;

Broken beneath, veiled with lies,

I am no longer fooled by my disguise.

No longer chained behind iron eyes.

With one honest glance, my mask disappears;

Now all that is left are the streaking tears,

The maddening pain and the nightmarish fears.

I pretended, I believed,

All that did was make a mind that deceived,

While deep inside I continued to grieve.

But now that I see past my cold eyes of steel,

I can begin to accept the ways that I feel;

Like shards of glass being put back together,

I can begin the process that will allow me to heal.
