Post Break (April 4 - April 25)

Good afternoon!

How's spring going for you so far this year? As is normal for the weather in my area, Mother Nature can't decide if she wants it to be a warm 60 degrees or half that and snaining (mix of rain and snow). Currently, she's chosen to lay down a thin blanket of the white stuff, which is fine by me - I love my snow.

But, in other news, it's time to recharge my brain. I'll be taking another posting break starting tomorrow, April 4th, and won't be posting anything new until April 25th or so. If you need to get in touch with me for whatever reason, I will still be available to respond to comments, messages, etc. :)

Phew. Can you believe it's April already? I know I can't. But then, I say that every new season.

Wishing you all the best - see you again on the 25th!

Post Break (January 21 - February 5)

Post Highlights:

• No new posts until February 5th

• Planning a new writing challenge

• Have an idea for a poem, short story, or something else? Submit it here!

• How's your experience here been? Let me know!

Good evening to you!

So, I was on a pretty good roll there for a little while after my last break, getting posts out in good time. But I think my brain, as it tends to get after every good little run, is worn out now and needs some time to refresh itself.

If you're new here, don't worry - I do this every couple of months. It helps to keep everything exciting, and helps to keep me from getting permanently worn out. I'll be back on the 5th, run through my stash of ideas, take another break, and do it all again.. :)

My break will last from January 21st to February 5th. I'll still be available to reply to messages, comments, etc., so, as always, don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like!

Post Break (November 28 - December 19)

Post Highlights:

• No new posts until December 19

• Future chapters of Renegade will not be published until the book is complete

• When complete, current chapters already published (1-5) will be overhauled

• Upcoming posts include two tags and the 4th section in my Tips From a Newbie blogging tips series

Hey there! It's that time again - time for another little break from posting. From today, the 28th of November, and until around December 19th or so, no new content will be posted.

However, I also have a couple of updates for you - mostly concerning my book-in-progress Renegade (that's right, I actually am still working on it despite not publishing anything in a lonnng time!), and also some of what to expect postwise after I return from break.

You can simply read the post highlights above, or read on for a little more detail on each of the listed points!

Share your poetry or story! Get included in my next post

I've been lacking when it comes to posts lately. And, to my own disappointment, it's going to be that way for a while. However, I'm doing my best to get something new out whenever I can, and I thought of something else I could do as well...

I'd love to do a fun little collaboration with you all! Do you like to write poetry or prose (specifically short stories)? Well, even if you don't typically write such things, why not give it a go now? If you submit your work to me within the next week or so, I'll include it in a special post along with other submissions I receive.

Use the form below to submit your piece, or email it to me at eve.edgeofnight@gmail.com.

(No erotica. Other than that, you're free to choose any topic you'd like!)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Can't get the form to work? Click here.

Join Me For A Q&A On Sept. 5!

Note: The Q&A has ended. Click here to view the recap!

Have some questions? I don't care what they are - maybe you're curious about something related to writing, be it my writing or just the craft in general, or maybe you have a question related to blogging. Maybe you just have a random question or two with no relation at all to either of these things!

No matter how small your questions are, how useless you think they are, how unusual they are, I want to hear them.

With that said, I would love to have you join me for a live Twitter Q&A session on Saturday, September 5th at 10:00 PM (ET). You can ask questions with the hashtag #AskEve. Make sure to tweet to @eve_edgeofnight so I know who you're talking to!

Not able to make it to the Twitter Q&A? No worries. More details are below, including alternative ways for you to submit questions.

Raven's Omen Writing Contest (August 9th - August 23rd)

Note: This contest is closed now. View the final winners here!

Hey there! How many of you reading this are aspiring authors? Do you consider yourself one? Maybe you do, or maybe you're just someone who enjoys writing up a story here and there. Or, heck, maybe you're already a published author.

All of those are great, and no matter how serious you are about the craft, how experienced you are, I'd love to see what you have going on. Whether your more of the storyteller kind or your heart lies with poetry, how about giving us a taste of your talent?

The theme of this contest is called Raven's Omen. You'll be given a prompt, consisting of both words and an image, and your goal is to create a memorable piece based upon that prompt in the form of either a poem or a short story. Two contestants will be chosen as winners - one for each form. Anyone is welcome to enter, so don't be shy!

Below are the contest guidelines. Show me what you've got!

April's Featured Website Winner & Writing Contest News

Hey there! Hope this post finds you well, and that you had an excellent weekend!

It's that time already, and entries for both the Featured Website April display spot and EoN's writing contest are no longer being accepted. It's time to see who our winners are! Though, unfortunately, I do have some sad news when it comes to the writing contest.

Writing Contest (March 20th - April 10th)

Note: This contest has ended.

Hey there!

So, for a while now I've been wanting to host some sort of writing contest or event. I finally figured out the details of it (er, well, the most important of the details, at least) and I'm excited to say that entries are now being accepted for EoN's first writing contest!

I'd been stalling on this because I kept thinking I would be doing it every month or week or whathaveyou, similar to my Featured Website Contest. However, after surfing around the website AllPoetry (aspiring writers, you must check this site out if you've never heard of it) and going through some of the various contests held there by the AP community, it finally dawned on me that this doesn't have to be something that runs over and over again.. Now I'm wondering how on earth I didn't realize that sooner, but oh well.

Below are the guidelines and instructions for this contest. Keep in mind that anyone who is interested can enter, even if you've never been here at Edge of Night before, and even if you don't have a blog yourself. Now, impress me. Show me what you've got!

Featured Website Contest: December's Winner

Last week, the first run of the FWC was announced. One week isn't a very long time to gather entries, but we needed to get our first winning website up and displayed. Normally, these contests will run for an entire month.

But anyway, let's get to the results!
